Many students attend online classes as a productive way to spend their time during the summer. I highly suggest students to look into summer classes if they aren’t already. However, a lot of these classes are online, and learning over Zoom calls or independently can be challenging. Nevertheless, with the right strategies, you can enhance your learning experience! Here are some tips to help you learn better during online classes:

Establish a set study space: Stay organized! Have a specific study area where all your supplies are laid out for you. This includes notebooks and binders for gathering notes. Find a quiet place so you are not distracted while you work. If you need to, put your phone across the room so you can focus better. If you have a clean and quiet space to work in, you will be more inclined to actively participate in your summer class.

Create a schedule: If you experience stress or difficulty with time management, create a schedule to stay on top of your work. Jot down every assignment, test, or project you need in order to complete the assignment. That way, you will have a clear idea of what you need to do each day. Break your goals into measurable tasks, and refer to your goals regularly. Prioritize completing tasks, and do not procrastinate. Moreover, plan out how much time you will dedicate to schoolwork so you’ll be able to easily build other plans around your classes. Consistency will keep you on track!

Use any tools provided: Online classes offer resources for a reason, so take advantage of all of the tools they give you. They may include textbooks, video lessons, websites, and forums. Also, be sure to take advantage of free and public tools, such as relevant videos on Youtube and other online resources.

Take practical notes: Writing notes is proven to help you remember material better. Learn effective note-taking strategies for online lectures of course material. Organize your notes in a way that works best for you and is easy to reference when studying. Review your notes regularly to stay on top of concepts.

Participate and connect with peers: Stay active in discussions, chats, or study groups. This is an excellent way to seek help and support. Do not hesitate to reach your instructor by email or office hours. Working with others can help you better understand concepts.

Take breaks: Managing your time includes taking breaks in between your work. After all, working hours on end without stopping for breaks will lead to burnout. Getting fresh air or going outdoors for a small walk is a great way to recharge and give yourself a break!

Choose a Reputable Course: Find an online course that is reputable and suitable to your needs. Online classes require motivation, engagement, and discipline to learn. If you can, take classes that you are genuinely passionate about because this will provide you with greater motivation.

By implementing these tips, you can enhance your learning experience during online classes and make the most out of your summer courses!
