7 Tech Scholarships for High Schoolers

I think there’s one thing we can all agree on regarding the college process: it’s costly. It’s not rare for many families to be unable to afford it, so students need to look for opportunities to get some extra money.

For students interested in STEM especially, having some of your college tuition paid will help ease the stress a bit. Here are a few scholarships that students interested in technology should consider applying for:

1. Asia Sivon Cottom Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship offers up to $2,500 for high school seniors around the country. Applicants must have a GPA above 3.0, be planning to pursue a STEM-related major in the future, and complete a writing supplement. Applications are due the first Monday in May and consist of a transcript and writing supplement.

2. HENAAC Great Minds in STEM Scholarships

This program has granted $3,200,000 to over 1,000 Hispanic students around the globe. Applicants can receive up to $10,000 by having a GPA above a 3.0, pursuing a degree related to science, technology, engineering, or math, and be of Hispanic descent. The application is due April 30th, and it consists of a transcript, resume, personal statement, peer recommendation, and faculty recommendation.

3. Adobe Research Women in Technology Scholarship

Over 250 students are granted money in this prestigious program. Recipients even get the chance to interview for an internship at adobe! Applicants must be female and planning to major in computer science, computer engineering, or a similar field. The application, which is due December 4th, consists of a resume, personal statements, recommendation, transcript, and optional video.

4. Coca Cola Scholarship

This program is pretty well known, but still very impactful. It selects 150 recipients each year to receive a $25,000 scholarship. Applicants must be a high school senior and a US citizen to apply for this scholarship.

5. Davidson Fellows Scholarship

This generous program offers students anywhere from $10,000 - $50,000 in scholarships. Applicants must be 18 years old or younger and have completed a significant piece of work. The deadline is March 10th, and applicants will need to submit a formal research report, a visual model, and recommendations.

6. Gladys Carol Scholarship

Applicants planning on pursuing a STEM-related field can receive up to $5,000 towards their college tuition. Applicants must have a 3.75 GPA or above and must have an ACT and SAT score higher than a 27 or 1280, respectively. The application consists of a transcript, score report, and a personal statement.

7. National Space Club and Foundation Keynote Scholar Application

This program offers students $10,000 towards their college tuition. Applicants must be a US citizen and be interested in pursuing a STEM-related field in the future.

The application, which includes a transcript, letters of recommendation, personal statement, and video, is due December 2nd. Three students are selected and will be invited to give a speech at the annual Goddard Memorial Dinner.
